My mom said she likes The Guys in 3A because in it, I act like I did when I was a little kid. That’s easy for her to say, because she doesn’t have to be here to keep me in line when we’re filming. Dave dislikes working with me for the same reason.
“I wanna play Ninja Turtles!”
“After we’re done filming!”
“I want to play now!”
“If you keep talking back, you won’t get any ice cream!”
This past weekend, Better Than The Machine appeared on Online Nation, a new show on the CW Network that showcases online web videos. We’re going to be on the next two episodes also, and likely some more after that. The show airs at 7:30 PM EST, but make sure to check your local listings. Tune in and support us!
We filmed an epic sketch over the weekend that will appear as our weekly video next week. It’s called “Thomas’s First Birthday”. Paul’s been writing it for a long time, and is currently working on editing it. It’s going to be awesome. It’s definitely a video I’m excited to see.
Yesterday we released a video called “The Real O.J. Simpson Scoop”. It’s a parody of Geico “The Real Scoop” ads. Check out some of the real ads out here, here, and here if you haven’t seen them. Here’s our parody:
That’s my girlfriend Amy’s dog Sweetie on my lap in the video. Sweetie stayed with us last week and nearly made filming Thomas’s First Birthday impossible. Not because she was disruptive or noisy or anything, but because everyone in Better Than The Machine just wanted to play with her the whole time.
For this reason, I have proposed the creation of Better Than The Machine productivity rule #17: When trying to be productive, keep cute animals, dry erase boards, and shiny objects away from us.

Check out Window Seat, a web series on ComedyCentral.com animated by my buddy Jason Shwartz. Is the world ready for a cartoon animated like an aviation safety guide? Yes: very, very ready.
Jason and Paul and I are working on a project together that is going to knock your socks off. If you’re not wearing any socks, put some on… and then prepare to have them knocked off.

The Guys in 3A had initially been signed on for a sort of “trial period” for a month with DotComedy, but NBC just notified us that they’ll be picking us up for six months. Woo!
That means you’ll be putting up with us all through the winter! Get cozy!

This is my favorite episode so far. I think this is the week that I realized “we can be really, really weird and that’s okay”. For some reason, Dave eating women’s deodorant in episode one didn’t clue me in on that. Check out GAMES:
If you like the video, please comment on the DotComedy page for the video here! Most people who post on that page just talk about how Dave and I are “fugly”, or should go back to YouTube, or were involved in the JFK assassination, or other things of that nature.
Sex? Gay men?! It must be Monday, because that sounds like a Better Than The Machine video!
We made this parody of Senator and huge hypocrite Larry Craig:
It’s the first BTTM video I edited fully in Final Cut. Ballard and Dave have been showing me the ropes, and I’ve been able to edit a fair amount of 3A stuff in there. It feels good to finally be using a real editing program.
Goodbye oppressive shackles of [name of program deleted to preserve my credibility]! So long After Effects; I used you only for tasks far beneath your capabilities. Good night world, it’s 5:27 AM!
The Machines were supposed to have a meeting last night about our secret new show. Instead, based on one of those “this is now or never” instincts on Paul’s part, we wound up filming a new video about Britney Spears’ ridiculous performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday night. Paul and I stayed up editing and posted it in the wee hours of the morning. Maybe it’s still Monday somewhere?
And just like that, Better Than The Machine’s back into the swing of weekly videos. We have some cool stuff planned, and I’m very happy to be back.
