BMT Day 42: Marriage Equality! People Posting On My Blog! I Need A New WordPress Blog Theme!

First off, I want to remember that today was the day we achieved marriage equality in the US.  What a wonderful feeling!  Now if we can just tackle racial and gender equality, we’ll be golden.
Second, thank you for the overwhelming response to my last post.  I especially liked that so many people commented directly on my blog (on my blog not about my blog) instead of on Facebook.  Facebook comments are good, too.  But it’s nice to get comments at the bottom of what I’ve written.  I didn’t respond to everyone, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t read or consider everything. It’s just hard to respond to everyone.  Consider yourselves all thumbs-upped.

Which brings me to this. I think I need a new blog theme that lets folks respond in a hierarchical fashion and also lets people subscribe to either individual posts or my entire blog.  I switched to a new one earlier this year, but it turned out to have a lot of bad code in it.  So if anyone has a WordPress theme in mind or good theme libraries that’re more current than mine (not hard, mine’s over ten years old), please recommend away!

Finally, today, I was told by my psychiatrist today that I needed to write at least one sentence in my blog a day and publish it.  I thought I was just going to write, “very tired, can’t sleep… going to try again.”

Instead, that’s just what I’m going to do now.

Thanks for reading!

A great day in history to be sure. It looks like love is winning out over blatant stupidity. Who knew? While I wouldn’t know where to start with a wordpress theme, I like your psychiatrist’s recommendation that you write and publish everyday-not only because you’re a great writer but because I can see this being good for your state of mind. What better way to put those thoughts of “what you should be doing” in their place. Every sentence can be another victory. Now perhaps it will be easier to get some rest, knowing that you have written. At least, I hope it works out that way. Thanks for writing! :-)

I realize I haven’t commented (here or on Facebook) in a while. I wanted to take a moment to assure you that I am, as ever, reading all your entries, and continue to be impressed/astounded by your writing brilliance (even during the times in which you lament the difficultly of writing), I just hadn’t happened to comment.
But the gist of the comments I might have made remains the same: You are brilliant, awe-inspiring, clever, hilarious, heart-touching & moving, and it shines through all you do, even when you seem to be feeling your worst. I just hope you keep reminding yourself that letting yourself get better properly (as your body needs) is far more important than the actual writing, at present- because it will allow you to eventually get back to the writing that you yourself will recognize as where you’d like it to be again (even while the rest of us have been inspired & impressed by your writing all along anyway).
And if course, if just getting in a sentence minimum each time will help you psychologically, that’s great, do it! But don’t let that play any part of a new stress build for ya.

Oh, and I barely understand my own WordPress page (that I never really update anyway), so sadly I have no suggestions about fancier wordpressness.

As ever and always, I’m constantly hoping for the best for you, and more specifically of late, here’s hoping your sister’s magic marrow cell rebels continue the good fight against the previous empire’s tyrannical ways.
(and don’t get bogged down in political trade disputes with the t-cells…)

NOW THEN, in other news: MARRIAGE EQUALITY!!! WOOOO!!! It’s so nice to live through big, important, landmark, historical moments that actually make you proud of your country (rather than disappointed)!! :-D

I miss you terribly, good sir!

Let freedom ring Reid! I hope you will write when the spirit moves you, and sleep when you must, please!

Just in case the characters above don’t show up, they are an emoticon rainbow party. :D

Also, go listen to One Republic’s “I Lived” and watch the video…let me know what you think.
